Describing my hopes, dreams, and fears for this new experience
I've always been a very curious person, and I've officially decided to pursue a STEM career because in every branch of science, my curiosity will grow. My hope for this Internship is to learn as much as possible from professionals in the science field, those who are already working and making discoveries. In science, you are not supposed to know everything; however, you dedicate your work life to constantly learning and growing as a scientist, observing and creating, mostly for an external purpose of helping a community. That is why I chose the Salk Institute to be the site of my first internship as a high school student. This is a non-profit organization, now ranked as one of the top 5 elite research institutes that started and continue to find cures and solutions for illnesses, as well as discoveries designed to improve the quality of our lives. I expect to become someone who can help others while continuing to learn and doing what I like. Of course, a new experience will always be a reason to feel excitement and nervous, especially because no one wants to make mistakes; however, making mistakes is also a way to learn, improve, and make your best afterwards.
